Why You NEED a Wedding Video

It was a normal, cloudy day in Oregon. I was sitting in a quaint coffee shop catching up, sharing life updates with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while.  I was asked how this new business venture was going and eventually started pouring out my heart about what drives my passion for wedding videos and why I love them.

My friend’s response: “that’s a good sales pitch, I’ve never thought of it that way”.

I didn’t expect that response. That was a lightbulb moment for me. Up until this point, I naively assumed (forgive me) that most people had the same view of a wedding video as I did. I also realized, in that moment, based on past conversations and experiences how often wedding videos are viewed as that “last splurge decision” - if it can fit into the budget.

So, I just wanted to share my heart behind why a wedding video might be worth placing as a higher priority for the big day.

It’s a lifelong investment.

There are so many beautiful details that have probably taken months to plan for—the floral arrangements, food, place settings, lights, hand-written signs, etc—that will all be gone the next day. As a videographer, I love to capture all of those special little details that makes a wedding day unique so that they can be remembered and enjoyed for a lifetime. All of that time and money spent on making that day beautiful can be preserved forever.

You can reflect on the pure, raw emotion of the day AND experience the moments you missed.

A wedding day is filled with a myriad of beautiful emotions and moments. The bride and groom spend a significant amount of time apart at the beginning of the day. You would get to experience the nerves, anticipation, and raw emotion of your soon-to-be spouse leading up to the ceremony. The laughter and memories made with your wedding party. The smiles and tears on your parents’ faces as you make the biggest decision of your life. The tenderness and emotion behind the vows spoken on your wedding day. The heartfelt toasts given by dearly loved family and friends. The crazy dances of your hilarious uncle. You get to peacefully enjoy your day knowing you’ll get to watch back the moments you loved and be surprised by moments you missed.

Those who weren’t there get to experience your beautiful day.

There may be a day in the future when your kids ask you “what was your wedding like? What were you and dad/mom like when you were younger?” How special would it be to show them the love, joy, and celebration of that day. Or the family member/friend who for some reason couldn’t make it. It would be a true gift for them to still get to experience the love shared in that day. Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve also wished I had some videos of my great grandparents just so I could know what they were like. How beautiful would it be for future generations to see the love stories that created their family history.

I truly think I could write pages filled with reasons why I believe a wedding video is so important. I am just so passionate about capturing an authentic moment as it happens. A wedding is one of the biggest days of your life. Why not remember it for a lifetime?

If you’re getting married soon, it would be an honor to be invited in to your special day and make this a reality. I would love nothing more than to tell your beautiful story.

:)

So good & so true!
